Graphics & Multimedia
In addition to the images you see below, we were also asked to write a short research article. I decided to write briefly about webcomics, since I'm a fan of some of the earlier ones, and could use them as a starting point. It's a useful medium for story-telling, and has seen a variety of incarnations, from the comics in newspapers to present day memes.

Techincal Type
Project Description: This specific assignment was to experiment with different text effects in Photoshop. We were given guidelines on which effects to use, but not fully how to apply them.
Technical Mask
Project Description: For the Technical Mask, we were asked to take two of our own pictures and combine them, then overwrite the image with text. Then, we were to use the Mask to decorate just the text. Both photos were taken on a trip to Lyon, France in October 2019.
Technical Channels
Project Description: For this project, we were given a picture of two zebras, and a list of specific instructions on how to manipulate the image. Most of the changes focused on the righthand zebra, where we were told to select the stripes and use channels to change only some of them.
Creative Type of Real Object
Project Description: Create a new image of your choice with text and alter that text in a fashion that accentuates the theme (e.g., the word “fire” in red text with a smoke effect or the word “ocean” in blue with a wave effect). Choose any word but “fire,” “ocean,” or any words that are also a name for a Photoshop filter (e.g., fresco, emboss, wind). These words are off limits. The point is, be creative.
Screen Design Assignment
Project Description: Imagine the look and feel of any interactive media, such as a mobile device or a web site not yet in existence that you would like to create. Visualize its interactive and non-interactive design elements. Once visualized, create it as a non-working, prototype screen design in Photoshop or any other graphic design/web design software you are comfortable with.

Photo Illustration Assignment
Project Description: Create a photo-illustration that is surreal (i.e., an image that is dreamlike or bends the feeling of time, interesting, and/or mysterious) is one option for the first of two required creative assignments for you to do. You may create this image from scratch or alter an existing image to achieve a surreal effect.
Technical Layers
Project Description: The Technical Layers assignment asked us to create a dinner scene with ourselves and 4 other historical figures we think would provide good dinner conversation. I chose Ching Shih, Mary Anning, Bessie Smith, and Madeline L'Engle, and I placed us at a nice table laid out in a landscaped backyard. I tried to choose poses that looked natural and casual, as if we were all just waiting for dinner to be served.
